#INDIA #PAKISTAN #IndianPrimeMinister #Modi’sSurpriseVisitToPakistan #Islamabad – Modi surprised everyone when he made a surprise visit to Lahore to meet Nawaz Sharif on 25th December, 2015. This is His first visit to Pakistan as the PM of India. Earlier this month, the two—Nawaz Sharif and Modi— had an unscheduled meeting in the Geneva conference for climate change, Paris. These unannounced visits and meetings could possibly help with the severing relations between the two neighbouring nuclear-armed powers. Since independence in 1947 from Britain, Pakistan and India have been through three wars–amongst them, two were over the claim of Kashmir. Modi reached Lahore on Friday afternoon, where he was welcomed by Nawaz Sharif at his personal residence. The two celebrated NS’s birthday and his granddaughter’s marriage. After Modi spending 2 hours at Nawaz Sharif’s residence, Modi was off to India from Lahore airport, accompanied by the Pakistan PM. The meeting seemed to have taken place in a very positive and informal atmosphere. Modi called Nawaz Sharif on Friday at 1130, expressing his interest to visit Pakistan the same day. Foreign Secretary Aitzaz Ahmad Chaudhry explain to reporters that Modi’ unplanned visit to Pakistan was a “gesture of goodwill”.
