Have you ever seen so many lucky cats at a time?

The maneki-neko is a Japanese cat-shaped figurine believed to bring you fortune and luck. There are several stories as to the cat’s origin and a tale of Goutokuji Temple in Tokyo is one of them.

The story goes like this. In the 17th century, when Naotaka Ii, the lord of Shiga region, was passing by the temple, a cat owned by the priest showed a gesture welcoming him inside. As soon as the lord entered the temple, a thunderstorm began. He was so thankful to the cat and made a lot of donations for rebuilding the old temple.

Thanks for reading. I wish you a good luck from Tokyo!
